  • Author: Betty

Description

The Sweet and Spicy Pepper Jelly Cheeseball is a delightful appetizer that combines creamy, cheesy goodness with the bold flavors of sweet and spicy pepper jelly. Coated in crunchy pecans and garnished with fresh green onions, this cheeseball is a visually stunning and flavor-packed addition to any party spread. Whether served with crackers, breadsticks, or fresh vegetables, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for holidays, potlucks, or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

• 2 blocks (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
• 1/3 cup sweet and spicy pepper jelly
• 1/2 cup chopped pecans (to coat)
• 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)
• Crackers, breadsticks, or veggies for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly with a spatula or hand mixer until the ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  • Shape the Cheeseball:
Scoop the cheese mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap. Gather the edges of the plastic wrap and form the mixture into a ball or log shape, depending on your preference. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  • Coat the Cheeseball:
Once chilled, remove the cheeseball from the refrigerator and unwrap it. Roll the cheeseball in chopped pecans, pressing gently to ensure the nuts adhere evenly to the surface.
  • Add the Pepper Jelly:
Transfer the coated cheeseball to a serving plate. Spoon the sweet and spicy pepper jelly over the top, allowing it to cascade slightly down the sides for a visually striking presentation.
  • Garnish and Serve:
Garnish with finely chopped green onions for a pop of freshness and color. Serve with a selection of crackers, breadsticks, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Soften the Cream Cheese: Leave the cream cheese at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure smooth mixing.
  • Chill Thoroughly: Chilling the cheeseball helps it firm up and makes it easier to handle and coat.
  • Customize the Coating: Experiment with alternative coatings like crushed pretzels, dried cranberries, or even crispy bacon bits for added flavor and texture.
  • Plan Ahead: This cheeseball can be made a day in advance, allowing the flavors to meld and saving you time on the day of your event.
  • Serving Temperature: Let the cheeseball sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving for optimal creaminess.
