  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Pastry:

  • 2 sheets shortcrust pastry (for base)
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (for top)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat, brown the beef until fully cooked.
    • Add onions and garlic; cook until softened.
    • Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and herbs.
    • Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well.
    • Add beef broth gradually, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
    • Simmer until thickened; season with salt and pepper. Let cool.
  2. Prepare the Pastry:
    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Roll out shortcrust pastry and line individual pie tins.
    • Fill with the cooled beef mixture.
    • Cover with puff pastry, sealing the edges with a fork.
    • Brush the top with egg wash and cut small steam vents.
  3. Bake:
    • Place the pies on a baking tray.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
